Penn State superstars Saquon Barkley and Micah Parsons are fresh off their respective bye weeks in the NFL, so obviously, they made impact plays on Sunday. Check out which one had a league-leading performance and which merely played excellent football in our weekly look at standout Nittany Lions in the NFL.

Penn State offensive players

Saquon Barkley

Another week, another 25-plus carries for Saquon Barkley, who has carried the New York Giants to a 7-2 record. The former Penn State star’s 35 carries were a season-high, while his 152 yards were second to his opening game performance. Barkley is eight yards ahead of Tennessee’s Derek Henry in our weekly NFL rushing leader check. Barkley is in line for comeback player of the year with how he’s played coming back from injury.

Chris Godwin

Germany was good to Tampa Bay Bucaneers’ receiver Chris Godwin. The former Penn State wideout found the end zone and caught six of his eight targets for 71 yards in a win over the Seattle Seahawks. Shockingly, that was Godwin’s first touchdown of the season. Efficiency has been the real issue for Godwin, who is still returning from an ACL injury he suffered less than a year ago. His 11.1 yards per catch on Sunday will help improve his sub-10.0 ypc average through ten games.

Juwan Johnson

Former Penn State receiver and now New Orleans Saints tight end Juwan Johnson caught a touchdowns pass and five catches for 44 yards in a loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Nittany Lion has been a valuable contributor to the Saint’s offense for several seasons but hasn’t been the main focal point of an offensive game plan until this week. The bad news is the team managed only 10 points in the loss.

Pat Freiermuth

On the other side of the field, Pat Freiermuth caught four passes on seven targets for 36 yards in the 20-10 win. Freiermuth had an all-around game with quality blocking and catching. His production in the run game is critical to support rookie quarterback Kenny Pickett, who finished 18 of 30 for 199 yards but chipped in 51 yards rushing and a touchdown.

Penn State defenders

Nick Scott

Former Penn State safety Nick Scott redeemed himself from last week’s late-game touchdown in the loss to Tampa Bay with a huge individual performance against Arizona. Scott tallied eight tackles and forced a fumble to lead the Los Angeles Rams defense. Unfortunately for Scott, the effort came in another defeat because the Rams couldn’t score on the Arizona Cardinals’ defense and lost 27-17.

Micah Parsons

The current favorite to win NFL Defensive Player of the Year, Micah Parsons totaled a season-high seven tackles in a 31-28 loss to the Green Bay Packers. Parsons didn’t record a sack but did add a tackle for loss, brining his total to 10 TFLs on the season. He has eight sacks on the season.

Arnold Ebiketie

Once again, another Penn State defender has a standout performance in a loss. Edge rusher Arnold Ebiketie grabbed his first partial sack since the season’s opening game in a 25-15 loss to the Carolina Panthers on Thursday Night Football. With the half sack, Ebiketie has 1.5 on the year for the 4-6 Falcons.

Still to play: Former Penn State receiver Jahan Dotson returns to the field for the Washington Commanders to face Miles Sanders and the Philadelphia Eagles on Monday night football.
