The Penn State defense allowed a touchdown fourteen seconds into the game against Maryland and shut out the Terrapins for the next 59 minutes and forty-five seconds. The answer to why the Nittany Lions were so dominant is as clear this year as in 2023. Penn State's defensive line is so dominant that Maryland had little chance to create a cohesive game plan that could threaten the Nittany Lions. While the why is clear, the how is somewhat interesting. The first play from scrimmage was a misnomer of what was to come. Penn State changed things up and turned back the clock using a gameplan we haven't seen this year from Tom Allen's squad.
