Penn State earned three commitments at the same position in the same week of June. Three-star wide receiver Peter Gonzalez committed on Friday, June 23, at the same time has four-star wide out Josiah Brown. That came two days after four-star wideout Tyseer Denmark became a Nittany Lion. (Photo: Gonzalez family)

The Penn State offense came to the Class of 2024 with the mission of getting bigger at wide receiver. On Friday, they succeeded in that goal by gaining the commitment of Pittsburgh Central Catholic wideout Peter Gonzalez. The junior receiver earned his Penn State scholarship by proving his skills to the Penn State staff at camp this summer. With those numbers, the 6-2, 198-pound receiver found a home with the Nittany Lions.  Yet Gonzalez is a deep sleeper in the Class of 2024. He’s the 1,105th overall player in the country, according to On3’s Industry ranking, and is the 150th receiver in the country, according to On3. Even in PA he ranks 34th among players in this cycle.  So is Penn State getting a steal or a dud? We’ll turn on Gonzalez’s film to understand what he brings. Spoiler alert, they’re getting an absolute steal.
