Texas OL Drew Evers sets Penn State official visit

Penn State continues to lock in official visits with its top offensive line targets across the country. As we noted in last week’s ‘Inside Lasch’ recruiting notebook, assistant coach Phil Trautwein has been working to lock up a date with Texas offensive lineman Drew Evers. On Tuesday, he confirmed via social media that the visit is now set for June 13-15.
Listed at just over 6-foot-3, 285 pounds, Evers is listed as an interior offensive lineman by On3. However, Penn State believes he’s versatile enough to play inside or outside.
Evers earned an offer from the Nittany Lions in June 2023. He’s never visited before, but his relationship with Trautwein and other staff members has been steady for months now. Offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki visited with him at Flower Mound High School back in May 2024. Trautwein also recently visited with him at his school on Jan. 29. That discussion, as well as Penn State’s success at developing offensive linemen in recent years, played a role in securing this official visit.
“The relationship with Coach Trautwein and the entire staff has been consistent in communicating how much of a priority I am for them.” Evers told On3’s Steve Wiltfong. “I also like the ability to compete early and the education.
“In talking [to] the other O-line guys there, they talk about the development they are getting and the brotherhood they feel there.”
Over the past two years, Evers has earned over 40 scholarship offers. As you would expect, top regional schools like Oklahoma, SMU, Texas and Texas A&M have all hosted him multiple times. He also has official visits set with SMU (May 2-4) and Texas A&M (June 20-22).

Evers told On3’s Chad Simmons that there are a few other programs he’s close to setting official visits with.

“I am in the process of slowing things down and narrowing some things down,” Evers said. “I am trying to find the right fit. Education, good football, the staff – all those things play into my decision and what I am looking for in a school.
“My visits to SMU and A&M are scheduled and I am close to locking one in with Ohio State. LSU and Oklahoma are two more schools I am in talks with about dates and official visits.”
Evers is the younger brother of former four-star quarterback Nick Evers. The Class of 2022 prospect began his career at Oklahoma before transferring to Wisconsin and now UConn. Their parents both graduated from Texas A&M.
Evers, who’s ranked No. 274 nationally in On3’s Industry Rankings, is now the 10th offensive lineman to set an official visit to Penn State.
Gregory Patrick, Marky Walbridge and Roseby Lubintus are all set to visit May 30 to June 1. Two weeks later, June 13-15, is expected to be deep with offensive line prospects, as Evers will join Johnnie Jones Jr., Carter Scruggs, Adam Guthrie, Bryce Gilmore and Tavian Branch that weekend. Virginia native Darius Gray also plans to squeeze in a midweek official visit June 17-19.
