Toms River (N.J.) North Class of 2025 offensive tackle Jaelyne Matthews visited Penn State on Saturday for the Nittany Lions’ final January Junior Day. On Monday, the four-star prospect has made plans to make a commitment. Matthews confirmed to BWI on Sunday evening that he’ll announce his college decision on Monday around 11 a.m. ET.

The 6-foot-5.5, 275-pound prospect will choose from a final five: Georgia, Miami, Ohio State, Rutgers and the Nittany Lions. Penn State leads on the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine. He was featured prominently in BWI’s Weekend Recruiting Notebook on Sunday.

Matthews visited Penn State for the second time on Saturday. He was previously in town for a camp in late July, and he attended the Lasch Bash recruiting barbecue the following day. The sophomore dropped 15 pounds from the last time he was on campus and noted that the staff saw his progress firsthand.

“It was awesome,” he said of the trip. “Me and the coaches created a very good bond in the past few year with recruiting. They liked how I’ve matured as a young man and how I’ve trimmed my body up and turned my weight into more muscle.”

An early four-star prospect by On3 and the on3 Consensus, Matthews is the No. 42 prospect in the Class of 2025 according to the Consensus rankings. He’s the nation’s No. 3 offensive tackle and the top prospect in New Jersey in the cycle.

In addition to his top five, Matthews has scholarship offers from Boston College, Cincinnati, Louisville, Nebraska, Pittsburgh, Syracuse, Tennessee, Texas A&M, West Virginia and others. Matthews will play in the 2025 Under Armour All-American Game.

Penn State has yet to pick up a commitment in the Class of 2025 and has just two players committed to its Class of 2024. Offensive lineman Cooper Cousins became the first member of the Class of 2024 a year ago Sunday. He was joined in the class last week by linebacker Anthony Speca.

Matthews said that he will announce his choice on his personal Instagram page @jaelynematthews.
