Penn State news, notes, and updates for Feb. 6 include a top recruiting target’s top five and decision date plus headlines of the day and more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with Dayshaun Burnett. The 6-foot-3, 217-pound defender from Imani Christian Academy is set to make his college decision at 2:45 p.m. ET on Wednesday. The four-star prospect could be a defensive end or linebacker at the next level. He is set to pick between Penn State, West Virginia, Kentucky, Pittsburgh, and Rutgers. He will make the announcement at his school, which competed at the PIAA Class 2A level a year ago but will voluntarily move to Class 3A in 2024, according to the Pittsburgh Tribune-Review. Burnett last visited State College for the West Virginia game back in September.

Penn State was one of the first schools to offer Burnett back in 2022. The Lions have a commanding lead in the On3 Recruiting Prediction Machine.

In other news, a new mock draft Monday brought numerous Penn State predictions into focus. ESPN projects Lions tackle Olu Fashanu to go in the first round. It also sees defensive ends Chop Robinson and Adisa Isaac going during the draft’s first two rounds. Isaac’s stock has skyrocketed since he thrived at the Senior Bowl last week. ESPN projects him to go to the San Francisco 49ers with the No. 60 overall selection.

“One of the big winners of Senior Bowl week, Isaac showed pass-rushing traits (quickness, flexibility and strength) that project to starter level in the pros, despite being undersized at 6-foot-5 and 250 pounds,” Matt Miller writes. “The 49ers traded for Chase Young , but he’s going to be an unrestricted free agent. And while 2022 second-rounder Drake Jackson could be a starter once he returns from injury, the team needs more depth and speed at defensive end. Isaac would be the team’s best edge player outside of Nick Bosa.”

Quote of the day

“Honestly, we just have to stay consistent and keep doing what we’ve been doing. It’s not like we had a bad season. But, we have bigger goals and our standard is way higher than that. We just have to be consistent and focus on the finer details of things and just fine tune where we feel like we were lacking on the previous year.”
