Penn State tweets of the day

We start by talking about practice.

Penn State welcomed reporters into the first day of drills for about 15 minutes on Monday night. The team first went through drills specific to their position before moving into a quick special teams field goal session. New coordinator Stacy Collins was quickly getting the Lions up to speed on how he wants things to operate. After that, the roster was broken up into position groups to go over ball security. We also saw new defensive coordinator Manny Diaz implement a new drill. It focused on ball deflection and featured players diving at a soccer ball tossed by the new assistant before landing on a padded mat.

Quote of the day

“We break those down with our objectives with each unit. We want no block kicks. We’re gonna talk about operation times. We’re gonna talk about starting field positions. You got to secure the football. If you get the football, you got to keep the football. We want to talk about not having penalties. Because penalties and special teams are not just a 10-yard holding penalty.”
