Former Penn State receiver Trey Wallace left the Nittany Lions via the transfer portal following the 2024 season after spending four years in State College. The Alabama native quickly garnered interest from SEC and ACC programs after posting 46 receptions for 720 yards and four touchdowns to bring his career stat line to 84-1,221-6. After taking multiple visits, the pass catcher with one year of eligibility has decided where he will close out his collegiate career. Where is he headed?

Wallace committed to Ole Miss on Sunday, On3’s Hayes Fawcett reports. During a fast portal recruitment process, the 6-foot-1, 199-pound one-time Nittany Lion had interest from the likes of Texas A&M, South Carolina, North Carolina, and Ole Miss. The On3 Industry Transfer Portal Rankings called Wallace the top available receiver in the portal. It also calls him the No. 73 player in the portal period since it opened back in December.

Where have former Penn State players who hit the portal ended up?

Wallace is the fourth former Penn State player to pick a new school. Here’s the list of who’s in the portal and where they are at now:

TE Jerry CrossMemphis
QB Beau PribulaMissouri
CB Cam Miller: Rutgers
WR Trey Wallace: Ole Miss
Tyrece Mills: Undecided
WR Omari Evans: Undecided
DT T.A. Cunningham: Undecided
WR Mehki Flowers: Undecided
WR Tyler Johnson: Undecided

The portal is now closed for undergraduates to enter. It will reopen in the spring. Graduates can go in at any time. But, it is unlikely that any other Penn State players will do so until after spring practice.

What does the Penn State receivers room look like in 2024?

It is not a surprise that the Penn State receivers room is undergoing a significant overhaul after the group failed to record a reception in the Nittany Lions’ 27-24 loss to Notre Dame in the Orange Bowl. Trey Wallace, Omari Evans, Tyler Johnson, and Mehki Flowers all left via the transfer portal. Julian Fleming is out of eligibility. That leaves redshirt senior Liam Clifford as the top returning receiver in third-year position coach Marques Hagans’ room. He caught 18 passes for 286 yards and one touchdown in 2024. For his career, the Ohio native has 39 receptions for 505 yards and a touchdown. Other scholarship returners include (eligibility listed is what they will be in 2025): Redshirt juniors Kaden Saunders and Anthony Ivey and sophomores Tyseer Denmark, Josiah Brown, and Peter Gonzalez.

Penn State is also welcoming six newcomers at receiver. Two, Kyron Hudson (USC) and Devonte Ross (Troy) are transfers. The other four are Class of 2025 signees Lyrick Samuel, Jeff Exinor, Matthew Outten, and Koby Howard.
