Two Penn State alumni ready for NBA Summer League action
The Penn State men’s basketball program has two former players on NBA rosters for Summer League action, which is set to begin Friday in Las Vegas. Two members of the Nittany Lions’ 2022-23 NCAA Tournament team, Jalen Pickett and Andrew Funk have both landed on their respective teams’ NBA Summer League lineups.
All 30 NBA teams will be represented in the Las Vegas summer league running from July 12-22. They’ll play their games on the campus of UNLV.
Here is a look at who is playing, and when they’ll play:
Penn State NBA Summer League participants
Jalen Pickett – Denver Nuggets
Jalen Pickett is one of three players for the Nuggets who have just completed their first NBA seasons that will be on their Summer League team.
As a rookie, Pickett split time between the Nuggets and the Grand Rapids Gold. With the NBA squad, he played in 27 regular season games and another three in the postseason. For the year, he averaged 1.6 points over 4.5 minutes per game, hitting 42.9 percent of his shots from the floor and 36.0 percent from deep.

Andrew Funk – Chicago Bulls
Originally picked up by the Nuggets as an undrafted rookie free agent, Andrew Funk was signed to a two-way deal by the Bulls in February. The sharp-shooter played 24 games with the Grand Rapids Gold before the move, averaging 13.4 points, 3.4 rebounds, and 3.5 assists.
Joining the Bulls’ roster in March and April, Funk logged five appearances at 2.6 minutes per game, but did not score a point. In 13 games with the Windy City Bulls, though, Funk averaged 35.2 minutes and 11.3 points per game. He posted a 32.1 percent clip from beyond the arc.

Seth Lundy was just signed to a two-way deal with the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday. He is not on the Hawks’ Summer League roster.
