Updated Penn State football weights heading into fall camp

The Penn State football team released an updated roster with new weights for the 2023 season. Blue White Illustrated combed through the information to pick out the most notable weight gains or losses since the last major update.

We’ll start with freshmen summer additions who arrived on campus over the last few months. Three players will were added to the roster for the first time and have their first weigh-in for the program.

Penn State summer additions making progress

Despite being on campus for only a few months, several Penn State freshmen have made impressive gains from their recruiting weight. Notably, Dakaari Nelson gained 17 pounds and Andrew Rappleyea gained 18. However, linebackers continue to dominate the weight transfer, with Kaveion Keys gaining 19 pounds from his listed recruiting weight.

Notable weight changes from the Penn State roster since the Blue-White Game 

Penn State fans will be happy to see that the Nittany Lions defensive tackles have been hard at work in the weight room this offseason. After several years of discussion, redshirt senior defensive tackle Hakeem Beamon tips the scales at 284 pounds, putting on 28 pounds since the Blue-White Game roster was released. Fellow defensive tackle Jordan van den Berg put on 15 pounds and is up to 301. van den Berg is also one of the strongest players on the team after several impressive weightlifting efforts this offseason.

The offensive line put in work this summer as well, with multiple linemen gaining at least ten pounds. Caedan Wallace now tips the scales at 341 pounds.
