The Penn State Nittany Lions face their second-ranked team of the season this weekend when 19th-ranked Illinois heads to Happy Valley for a primetime clash. The football team put together it’s midweek preparations on Wednesday and allowed the media inside for a look. Penn State head coach James Franklin press conference
Penn State head coach James Franklin spoke on Tuesday and sang the praises of defensive tackle Zane Durant. The third year player doesn’t have many stats right now, but Franklin thinks he’s playing at a very high level.
On Wednesday, he was asked about a player on the other side of the line of scrimmage, guard Vega Ioane.
“Vega has been really kind of the model since he showed up on campus. He is big, he is strong, he is physical, he is football smart. He is classroom smart. Was raised extremely well, very coachable as a guy to to be able to play both guard positions and center. It’s Unusual to have a guy that you think could play center at 350 pounds, he carries 350 pounds better than I’ve ever seen anybody carry 350 pounds. And I think he’s having a really good year, and I think he’s got a really bright future,” Franklin said.
