Watch Penn State legacy Michael Carroll earn his offer at White Out Camp
Penn State held its annual White Out camp on Saturday, and one of the bigger developments from the weekend came on the offensive line. Penn State legacy prospect Michael Carroll Jr. earned a scholarship offer from the Nittany Lions after a standout performance in both testing and positional drills. Blue White Illustrated was at camp to watch Carroll’s performance, which you can see yourself in the video below.

Penn State offers Michael Carroll
Carroll spoke with Blue White Illustrated after his offer this weekend and explained the moment head coach James Franklin offered him a scholarship. Check out Ryan Snyder’s interview to learn more.
Carroll Jr is the son of Michael Carroll Sr., a Penn State linebacker from the mid-1990s. Carol told Snyder that his father was elated by the news.
“My dad was super excited and proud of me. He was proud because he knows how much work I’ve put in,” Carrol Jr said.
It’s been a long road for the younger Carroll, who camped at Penn State for several summers before getting his offer this past weekend.

Carroll drew praise and attention from the Penn State staff on Sunday during the one-on-one testing portion against the defensive line. Franklin had several standout linemen run through the drill in consecutive reps at each offensive line position. Carroll was the only non-committed prospect to go through the test, following Wyomissing offensive linemen Caleb Brewer and McDowell standout Cooper Cousins. Carroll, likely a guard prospect at the next level, did his best work on the interior, going up against some of the best prospects in attendance.
BONUS: Watch Cooper Cousins compete at the White Out Camp
Penn State 2024 commit Cooper Cousins has been coming to Penn State’s prospect camps for the last two years, and his efforts are starting to show. Check out Cousins compete against the best players in attendance on Saturday. Offensive line coach Phil Trautwein had Cousins focus most of his efforts at right tackle, but the 6-6 offensive lineman competed at every position during the testing portion.
Cousins spent the day tied to Trautwein, getting nearly constant coaching from his future position coach. The duo worked on pass sets throughout the afternoon, refining Cousins’ understanding of offensive line technique. They also worked both right and left techniques to help prepare the young lineman for the versatility he’ll need at Penn State.
According to BWI’s recruiting experts, the plan is for Cousins to play center in the future. But at 6-6 with exceptional length, the coaching staff is experimenting with Cousins at tackle.
