What did QB Beau Pribula have to say following Penn State's win over Rutgers?
It’s been an interesting week for Penn State’s offense. Back on Sunday, head coach James Franklin fired a coach for the first time during the regular season, announcing that offensive coordinator Mike Yurcich was no longer part of the program. Assistant coaches Ty Howle and Ja’Juan Seider were tasked with filling the void, and while it was far from perfect, the Nittany Lions did ultimately pull away against Rutgers, winning 27-6 on Senior Day.
What they likely didn’t expect to happen was a quarterback change early in the second quarter, as starter Drew Allar left the game and was replaced by backup Beau Pribula. The York, Pa., native has played in the majority of games this season, but following a tumultuous week inside the Lasch Building, Pribula’s performance was largely a success, leading Penn State to 17 unanswered points in the second half.
“I’m always ready to go in the game no matter what,” Pribula said. “I saw it was kind of a rough hit. He looked alright at first, but then I saw he was dazed a little bit or whatever, and then he kind of signaled to the sideline. I was ready immediately. I’m always trying to stay warmed up on the sideline, ready to go at all times.”

Pribula instantly made an impact, rushing for 39 yards on his first play after replacing Allar.
“I think it was super important to have an explosive play like that, first play being in, just to set the tone,” Pribula said. “I set the IDs and made sure the running back knew who he had. I had the option to throw as well. I decided to run the ball and then I saw a crease and just went up the right sideline to try and get as much as I could get.”

Pribula finished the game with just one pass, which he completed for nine yards to tight end Tyler Warren to get the Nittany Lions into the red zone late in the game. Running back Nick Singleton then carried the ball twice before Pribula ran the ball in from a yard out.
Pribula did end up leading Penn State in rushing yards, totaling eight carries for 71 yards and a score.
After the game, Franklin was asked about the status of Allar moving forward.
“As you guys know, I’m not going to get into medical stuff,” Franklin said. “It would not be appropriate for Drew, for his family, but I don’t see this being significant. But, we will see.”
