Penn State tweets of the day
Penn State meets the Fighting Illini at 7:30 p.m. ET on Saturday. Both head coaches held their first chat with reporters on Monday before the game. You can find out the top takeaways from Franklin’s interview in the headlines section below. As for Bielema, the fourth-year Illinois head coach was very complimentary of the team his group will face on Saturday. The top 25 matchup will be televised by NBC.
“A tremendous opportunity to play a top 10 team on the road, obviously on an environment that is one of the best in college football. An offense that has a good coordinator. I think the offensive line from tackle to tackle is probably the best group that we played. Very, very talented players. The group of wide receivers, tight ends, are above average and among the elite players in the Big Ten.
“On defense, Coach Allen, I’ve loved him since I’ve been around him, and what he brings to the table, they’re very talented at all three levels. We did a lot of good things [against Nebraska] last week, but this will take it to a whole other level.”

Quote of the day
“I understand you guys going to ask these questions. I typically don’t have these answers for you. I hate to see you waste a question, but I typically don’t have these answers for you guys in this press conference. Because, once again, we need time to evaluate the injuries. And, we need time to have conversations with these kids and their families before I’m going to say something to you guys about it.
“So, I would recommend for you guys to probably save these type of questions till [after practice on Wednesday]. But if you guys want to ask, feel free to ask. But I typically won’t have this information for you guys on a Monday again because we need to totally evaluate the injuries, and sometimes you’re talking about MRIs and X-rays and a ton of things that go into that. And then also me to be able to have the time to have conversations with them and possibly their families.”
