After playing away from Beaver Stadium just three times over the first 11 weeks of the college football season, No. 4 Penn State is set to embark on back-to-back road trips over the final three weeks of the regular season. This weekend, the Nittany Lions (8-1) are 28.5-point favorites at Purdue. That game starts at 3:30 p.m. ET Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium in West Lafayette, Ind. CBS will televise it. Then, next Saturday, the Lions are away again as they travel to Minnesota. What’s the early point spread for that game?

DraftKings was the first sports betting operator to market with a look-ahead line in the middle of the Lions’ prep for the Boilermakers. It calls Penn State a 10-point favorite over the Golden Gophers. That game also starts at 3:30 p.m. ET on CBS. Head coach PJ Fleck’s team is 6-4 on the season. It is amid its second and final bye week of the season after losing to Rutgers 26-19 last Saturday in Piscataway, N.J.

“Everything starts with me. I wasn’t a very good head coach today. I didn’t prepare them very well,” Gophers head coach P.J. Fleck said after that game, per SI. “I thought Rutgers did a good job coming off the bye week and creating some things that gave us some issues, which most of the time coming off the bye week you want to do that. They had two weeks to prepare and they did a really good job.

“I know they had lost four straight. But, you give Greg Schiano and his staff, you give them two weeks to prepare and go get one victory — I thought they did a good job mixing some stuff up, especially on our protection game. You have to give them credit. That’s why they’re really good coaches. Lotta really good coaches over there and staff members.”

Minnesota has the nation’s No. 11 total defense. It is giving up less than 300 yards per game. But, it is being held back by one of the worst offenses in the Big Ten and country. The Golden Gophers are No. 111 in total offense entering this weekend and No. 81 in scoring offense with an average of 26.7 points per game.
