Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the betting numbers that are out for Saturday’s non-conference clash between the Falcons and Nittany Lions. It is head coach James Franklin’s team home opener and first of two games against Mid-American Conference foes over the next three weeks. FanDuel lists Saturday’s home team as a 32.5-point favorite. The over/under total is 49.5. Head coach Scot Loeffler’s team is fresh off a 41-17 victory over Fordham to start the 2024 season. Running back Terion Stewart had three touchdowns in the victory and Justin Pegues returned the opening kickoff for a 100-yard touchdown to power the team to victory.

“[I’d] like to first thank all the students for coming out,” Loeffler told the school’s official website. “That crowd that we had was awesome. It was electric for our kids to play in front of as many students as we got out. I really appreciate the community coming out. It’s great to get our first win, and whenever you look at this game, there was some positives. But, when you look at it we have a lot to work on too. I think if this team can continue to be selfless [and] continue to be one unit, I think this team is going to be a really good football team. But, we have a long way to go. I like this team. I like our kids, but we need to clean some things up [and] just keep moving the needle in a positive direction.”

Quote of the day

“They were telling us that they would tell us when it’s time to really lock back in. So they really wanted us to relax, take some pads off, col down, hydrate, and get your body right. But then, when it was time to go, they said it was time, everybody strapping up, everybody locking in, the music blasting; Coach Franklin did a great job handling that situation.”
