Penn State returns to Beaver Stadium for the final time in the regular season on Saturday. The Nittany Lions are 10-1 and look to win their 11th game before the postseason for the first time since 2008 when they host Maryland. Kickoff is set for 3:30 p.m. ET. The Big Ten Network will televise the contest. A broadcasting crew is not yet assigned.

PSU is a 23.5-point favorite at FanDuel. The over/under betting total is 48.5 points. It will be the eighth time this year the Lions open a game as a double-digit favorite. And, it’s the fifth time the team is favored by three touchdowns or more, per Odds Shark.

Penn State and Maryland are moving in opposite directions

The Lions need to win this game to secure a spot in the College Football Playoff. It is still in line to host a home game in the first round, though that won’t be decided until selection Sunday on Dec. 8. The Terrapins, meanwhile, are reeling. Maryland cannot make the postseason as they come to State College at 4-7. It has lost four straight contests and six of their last seven. And, it has not won back-to-back games since September.

“They are down. And, it’s all I can do to not be like them, because I know the work that they have put in,” Locksley said after his team lost 29-13 to Iowa at home on Saturday. “I mean, you look all across the country and you see teams that are struggling like we’re struggling right now, and you see people quitting, not playing, opting out to go play. And I’m not saying that that won’t happen, hasn’t happened, but I can just tell you, I don’t see that with this group.

“These guys are fighters, man. They embody that, that fighter spirit, and hopefully it’s something that they’re taking from me, because I’m even more motivated to figure this out for our fan base, for our program. We’ve had a good run here, and this gives us an opportunity to hit reset. And we want to do it pretty quickly, and next week is kind of part of that reset. So we’ll finish it the right way. One of the pillars of our program is how we finish. We want to headbutt it, and we’ll go up to State College and headbutt to the finish”
