It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the latest betting information for Saturday’s massive top 10 showdown between Penn State and Ohio State. The look-ahead line made the Buckeyes a 6.5-point favorite. It is now 4.5 with a total of 48.5.

The Buckeyes are dealing with numerous injuries. Star running backs TreVeyon Henderson and Miyan Williams, plus wide receiver Emeka Egbuka. None of them played against Purdue. And, their status for this week is unclear. Then, during the Buckeyes big win over the Boilermakers, running back Chip Trayanum was knocked out of the game with an undisclosed injury and never returned. It leaves the Buckeyes potentially shorthanded in the backfield for their meeting with Penn State.

“I think we got to look at it and just see what that room’s looking like, and we’ll kind of play it week-to-week,” Ohio State coach Ryan Day said. “We didn’t know how the season was gonna play out. But we wanted to at least have the choice to be able to save his redshirt if possible.

“But we’ll sit down and talk. If it’s something that we got to go play and do what’s best for the team — and there’s opportunities to go play — then we’ll go from there.”

Ohio State’s top cornerback, Denzel Burke, also left the game in the third quarter and did not return to the field. His status is also unclear.

“Yeah, I can’t give any updates right now,” Day said. “I know everybody wants to know, but I can’t do that right now.”

Quote of the day

“I just think being a ball carrier in general is almost a natural thing. Being able to find the open holes and make guys miss is almost just natural to me. I did this in high school. It’s really nothing new to me, I’ve always been doing good with the ball in my hands. I’m just happy I got the opportunity to showcase it today.”
