Penn State is still celebrating its 35-6 win over Washington. The Nittany Lions will spend the early part of the day basking in the glow of their eighth victory of the season. Then, later Sunday, they will hit the practice field to make necessary corrections and fully turn the page to their next opponent.

“In our locker room and in the Lasch facility and on our practice fields, we’ve got a ton to be proud of, and we focus on that,” Lions coach James Franklin said late Saturday night. “We focus on making corrections, and I’m proud of my guys. I’m proud of my staff and how we go about our business. We value winning, and if you watch college football all over the country, it’s hard to win on a consistent basis. You see it every single week, upsets and things like that. So, we value winning. We respect winning and what it takes. And we get back to work on Sunday’s, in the Lasch building and on the Lasch practice fields.”

Next up for the Lions is Purdue. The Boilermakers host the Nittany Lions at 3:30 p.m. ET next Saturday at Ross-Ade Stadium. Penn State will put its 10-game winning streak in a series in which it leads 16-3-1 all-time in West Lafayette.

What is the Penn State-Purdue point spread and total?

FanDuel opened the Lions as a 28.5-point favorite early Sunday morning. The total is 49.5 points. DraftKings made Penn State a 28-point favorite. It does not yet have an over/under listed. Purdue is 1-8 and fresh off its latest double-digit loss. This one came by a final score of 45-0 at the hands of Ohio State.

“I thought we were able to move the ball, but again, when you play against the number two team in the country, you don’t come up with points when you get into the red zone,” Purdue coach Walters said back on Sunday. “You know, when you’re 2-for-12 on third downs, you’re not going to give yourself a chance at the end of the game.”

Just how bad are Walters’ Boilermakers? Here are some ugly statistics to help sum it up:

–Number of double digit losses: 6

–Total offense/scoring offense: No. 120/No. 127 (out of 134)

–Total defense/scoring defense: No. 122/No. 129

–Turnover margin: No. 117 at -7

This will be almost as bad as watching Penn State-Kent State back in September. In fact, the Golden Flashes are one of the few teams lower in the above stat categories than the Boilermakers.

“I am learning how to respond to the moments that you don’t expect, and moments that are this difficult. I came here to win games,” Walters said. “Came here to compete at the high stage, and we will dive into finding out how to do that.”
