Penn State news, notes, and updates for Nov. 13 include the Lions spread for the game with Rutgers plus Scarlet Knights news and more.

It’s time to dive into Monday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the betting information for Penn State-Rutgers. The Nittany Lions are listed as a 19.5-point favorite at FanDuel. And, the points total over/under is 43.5. Head coach James Franklin’s team is coming off of a 24-15 point to Michigan.

“A lot can happen in college football, we just have to stick together, keep sticking together, learn from it tomorrow, be critical of ourselves, but learn from it and continue to move on,” Lions quarterback Drew Allar said. “At this point we need to bounce back this week in practice and just play our hearts out and we only get so many opportunities in football to actually play games we train 8-9 months out of the year. We only get to play football 3 months and that’s once a week, so we just have to cherish all the moments that we have left with this team. There is no other group that I would rather go out and play with.”

In other news, the Scarlet Knights are dealing with some injury issues. Kyle Monangai, the Big Ten’s leading rusher, was questionable last week and hurt during the team’s loss to Iowa. His status moving forward is unclear. Tight end Johnny Langan is banged up despite playing last week, too. Top receiver JaQuae Jackson was hurt against the Hawkeyes, too. Their status for the Penn State game is not yet clear.

Quote of the day

“The thing that really stood out the most was the atmosphere. It was so loud the entire game. It gave me chills when I looked around and took it all in. The defense also looked very strong, even though they took a tough loss. It’s really cool to go out and watch the team walk into the stadium with the road lined with fans. Also, meeting Coach [James] Franklin out in the middle of the field during pregame is always a great experience.”
