What time, channel is Penn State-Ohio State wrestling on? Projected lineups, time, and more
The No. 1 Penn State wrestling team has its first match of February tonight. The Nittany Lions welcome No. 7 Ohio State to Rec Hall to kick off a stretch that includes back-to-back top-10 opponents. After facing the Buckeyes on Friday, head coach Cael Sanderson’s team will battle No. 2 Iowa next Friday on the road.
“I think this group and probably every group, I mean, they certainly look forward to those big matches,” Sanderson said Tuesday. “They’ve always wrestled great in the big matches. So, I’m assuming, I don’t know if they’re circling them, but they’re aware that, the bigger the match, the more fun it is to wrestle great.”
Penn State has won 51 straight dual meets. It is 7-0 this season. The Buckeyes are 12-1, with their own loss coming to Pittsburgh back in December.
“I think they’re familiar with our guys, we’re familiar with their guys, I mean, the kids, you follow them growing up,” Sanderson said. “There’s so much film and just, the sport’s just, it’s easier to go, you can watch 10 years of film on most kids that are competing now. So it’s not really about last week as far as preparing because, again, we’re trying to prepare year-round for these opponents and these big matchups like this.”

What are the top bouts to watch?
The headliner bout of this dual meet comes at 141 pounds. Returning All-American Beau Bartlett, who is ranked No. 2 by InterMat, will battle No. 3 Jesse Mendez. The Ohio State sophomore was an All-American at 133 pounds in 2022-2023. This will be the first college meeting between the two former Junior Worlds teammates.
“I know he’s really good,” Bartlett said this week, per FLO. “And it’s really cool to see guys that come up from the age-level World teams move on and continue to find success. But it doesn’t really change anything for the match. I’m gonna get in my routine, do everything the way I want to do it. Make sure I’m dialed in, and I’m going to go compete the way I want to compete.”
