Penn State and Boston meet tonight in the 2025 NCAA men’s hockey Frozen Four. It’s the Nittany Lions’ first trip to this event, while the Terriers are here for the 25th time and are in search of their sixth national title. It also marks the third time in as many years that head coach Jay Pandolfo’s side has made the national semifinals. The contest was to start at 8:30 p.m. ET. However, it will now start at 9:50 p.m. ET after Western Michigan beat Denver 3-2 in double overtime in the first semifinal. The winner of PSU-BU faces the Broncos Saturday night in the finals.

“We’re excited to be back here again,” Pandolfo told reporters in St. Louis on Wednesday. “I think at times this year with the kind of inconsistencies in our game, I don’t know if we had a great feel that we were going to find our way back here. But this group of players, the leadership group, three of these guys sitting up here today, they willed their way back here. They’ve done it all year. I’m real proud of them.”

The Nittany Lions battled their own inconsistencies, of course, to experience all of this for the first time. They needed a torrid run just to qualify for the postseason, where they’ve been nearly perfect, save for a loss in the Big Ten semifinals, ever since.

“Obviously, if you’re playing at this time of the year feeling pretty good about yourselves and we are,” Gadowsky said. “It’s very special the first time to be in the Frozen Four for any program, for us the way it happened, with us having a slow start and the guys having to stick together so much, I think it’s extra special, so extremely honored to be here.”

Penn State-Boston Frozen Four time and details

This is the first time Penn State and Boston will meet on the ice. The Terriers come in with a record of 23-13-2. A Hockey East club, they are powered by brothers Quinn Hutson, a forward, and Cole Hutson, a defender, along with goalie Mikhail Yegorov. For Penn State, sophomore Aiden Fink leads the way in goals, points, and assists. It’s also worth noting that goalie Arsenii Sergeev has been on fire of late for the 22-13-4, and he’ll have revenge on his mind. He’s 0-3 lifetime against Boston from his time at Connecticut.
