Penn State news, notes, and updates for Dec. 15 include the uniform color the Lions will wear in the Rose Bowl, plus much more, including transfer target Dante Cephas updating his recruitment.

It’s time to dive into Thursday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with the uniform color Penn State will wear in the Rose Bowl. According to a social media post, the Lions will wear their road whites for the New Year’s Six matchup in Pasadena, Calif., at 5 p.m. ET on Jan. 2. This is not overly surprising news, as Penn State is considered the away team since it is No. 11 in the final College Football Playoff top-25 while Utah is the home team since it is No. 8.

As The Daily Collegian reports, the Lions wore their blue uniforms in the 2016 Rose Bowl and last wore white there in 2009. However, it is their second straight bowl game in all white after they also wore those uniforms in last year’s Outback Bowl.

In other news, former Kent State receiver Dante Cephas updated his recruitment with On3. The transfer portal target visited Penn State last weekend.

“It was good, I got to go back — I went to go there in high school a lot,” Cephas told On3’s Pete Nakos. “Watch the games a lot. It was good, got to see all the new facilities they got. Brought aback old memories I had.”

Numerous schools are still in play, including UCLA. Cephas may visit there this weekend. A decision timeline as not yet been set. Learn more about the receiver and other PSU portal targets in BWI publisher Sean Fitz’s recent premium notes piece.

“NFL development is most important to me because that’s where everybody wants to ultimately go,” Cephas said. “You don’t want to land there and struggle. I think that will be key for me, making sure when I get there I’m already rolling and have the confidence.”

Finally, for this section, we’ll note that UCLA’s move to the Big Ten in 2024 is official. The California Board of Regents approved it on Wednesday night. The Bruins may have to give some of their future conference revenue back to other state schools, however, per multiple reports.

Quote of the day

“I can’t speak for everybody, but I would say of 14 teams in the Big Ten, we’re probably 14. Maybe 13. So it’s just about who we want to be as a program. What are we willing to say is going to be our standard?

“Because, I can be as good of a coach in the world, but if you don’t have as good of players, it doesn’t matter. Or, if you do a great job with your development, you find a kid, you develop him, and then somebody comes in and they have something for him, that’s kids, that’s life right now, and that’s what’s happening.”
