The No. 1 Penn State wrestling team puts its 68-match winning streak on the line tonight when it takes on No. 8 Ohio State at the Covelli Center in Columbus. The match starts at 7 p.m. ET. Big Ten Network will televise it. It’s the first of two duals for the Nittany Lions this weekend. After tonight’s meet, they travel to Champaign to prepare for a match with Illinois on Sunday.

“This week will be a fun test for us,” Penn State coach Cael Sanderson said this week, per PennLive. “A lot of it’s just practice in our focus and our approach to the matches, having a good attitude, enjoying what we’re doing, being ourselves, like we always talk about. It’s taking advantage of every opportunity, and really taking advantage of it by just competing the way we want to compete.

“So it’s just good practice to do that, right? Because you’ve got to seize the opportunity of the lifetime, and the lifetime of the opportunity, as the saying goes. And so every time you compete, you get a practice doing that, and we look forward to it.”

What is the Penn State-Ohio State point spread?

DraftKings makes Penn State a 22.5-point favorite over Ohio State. It marks the fourth dual meet where the Lions are picked to win by 20 points or more by the oddsmakers.

Nittany Lions-Buckeyes picks and predictions

The expectation as of Friday morning is that 133-pound sophomore Braeden Davis will be back in the lineup after missing the last few matches due to injury. If he was going to miss a meeting with No. 11 Nic Bouzakis, that became a weight where the Buckeyes could not only win but score bonus points. Now, it’s a toss-up. The next one comes at 141 pounds, where No. 3 Beau Bartlett looks to end a two-match losing streak opposing No. 1 Jesse Mendez. After that, a top-10 bout awaits between No. 7 Dylan D’Emilio and No. 2 Shayne Van Ness at 149.

Then, at 157, Penn State sophomore Tyler Kasak is not likely to wrestle due to injury. That means either Connor Pierce or Davis Evans will bump up from 149 to face Brandon Cannon or Sammy Sasso. We expect the Buckeyes to wrestle the former, however. It’s a coin flip as to who will win. At 174, No. 2 Levi Haines faces No. 5 Carson Kharchla in what should be a good match that favors the Nittany Lions. And, the last top 10 bout of the night should come at heavyweight between No. 9 Nick Feldman and No. 2 Greg Kerkvliet.

WrestleStat has it 25-6 in favor of Penn State. That feels slightly light to us. We’ll go with a 30-6 Lions triumph, with the Buckeyes picking up wins only at 141 and 157.
