The NCAA will release the official seeds and complete brackets for the 2025 Division I Championship this week. The tournament starts next Thursday, March 20, at the Wells Fargo Center in Philadelphia. Today, March 11, the NCAA will release at-large selections for those competitors who did not qualify for nationals by earning one of their conference’s allocated spots. Then, on Wednesday, March 12, the brackets come out. NCAA.com will stream a bracket reveal show at 8 p.m. ET then. The matchups for the opening round will then be set.
Penn State, fresh off its third straight Big Ten title, qualified all 10 starters for NCAAs at the conference tournament. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s team has won the last three national titles and seven of the last eight that were contested (2020’s tournament was canceled due to COVID). The Lions will aim to break their record-setting mark of 172.5 team points from a year ago.
Sanderson’s side will have at least three No. 1 seeds in sophomore Tyler Kask at 157 pounds, redshirt sophomore Mitchell Mesenbrink at 165 pounds, and graduate senior Carter Starocci at 184 pounds. Freshman Like Lilledahl could parlay a Big Ten title at 125 pounds into the top seed at nationals like Braeden Davis did a year ago. But, that’s hardly a guarantee.

Greg Kerkvliet and Levi Haines project as No. 2 seeds at heavyweight and 174 pounds, respectively. Beau Bartlett could be No. 1 at 141. But, he could also be No. 2 or even lower. Penn State’s other three starters could end up at a number of spots. And, it goes without saying that the health of redshirt freshman Josh Barr, who hurt his left leg at Big Tens, will be a talking point before and after the seeds come out.

Quote of the day
“What I love about them is they’ve been pushing really hard. Coach [James] Franklin came out to see me. What they’ve been doing with the recruiting part and with the tight end Tyler Warren, he was the same type of player in high school I am now. I play quarterback, tight end and some defense.”
