Where do Penn State's commits and top targets now rank in the updated 2025 On300?
Penn State’s assistant coaches will hit the road later this week to begin the spring evaluation period. With a dozen players already committed in the class, the Nittany Lions will primarily use this upcoming period as an opportunity to evaluate their top remaining targets in the 2025 class ahead of what will be a crucial month of visits in June. They’ll also be watching younger prospects, too.
But while Penn State and coaches elsewhere will just now be starting their updated evaluations, our staff at On3 has been working on that for weeks. That led to On3 Scouting Director Charles Power and his staff updating the 2025 On300 rankings Monday afternoon.
Penn State came into the day with four players ranked inside the On300 in linebackers Alex Tatsch and DJ McClary, as well as wide receiver Lyrick Samuel and new running back commit Alvin Henderson. Now, that total has climbed to five, as offensive tackle Owen Aliciene was upgraded to a four-star player. He jumped from an 89-rated three-star to No. 212 in the nation. In addition to Aliciene, Samuel also made a significant jump, climbing more than 50 spots from No. 235 to No. 181.
But there are also plenty of other top targets that James Franklin and his staff are still pushing hard for. In Pennsylvania, three top targets all moved up again, most notable offensive lineman Michael Carroll, who climbed more than 40 spots to No. 27 nationally. That puts the Doylestown native in potential five-star territory now. Southern Lehigh tight end Andrew Olesh also moved up slightly, climbing eight spots to No. 79 nationally. Susquehanna Twp. wide receiver Lex Cyrus continues to climb as well, moving up 22 spots to No. 110 nationally.
In addition to Aliciene, a few other notable names climbed into the On300 for the first time. Offensive tackle Malachi Goodman was one of the biggest moves, as he now ranks No. 103 in the nation. He’s one of two offensive tackle prospects that make their debut, with Ohio native Nolan Davenport now ranked at No. 271.
