Where do Penn State commits rank in the On3 Industry Rankings following update?
You won’t find many classes that moved as much Monday as Penn State following the latest ranking update at On3. Among the nation’s Top 15 classes, Texas A&M was the only other program that saw its class move up multiple spots in On3’s Team Rankings. The Aggies climbed two spots to No. 7, while Penn State jumped from No. 10 to No. 8 overall.
If you’re still unfamiliar with how our team rankings work, its important to note that they’re not based off of just On3’s rankings specifically. Instead, we use the On3 Industry Rankings, which are a combination of On3, 247Sports, Rivals and ESPN. Over the past few weeks, all three of the other sites posted updates to their rankings, leaving On3 as the last recruiting service to shuffle its rankings following a busy spring and summer of camps and 7-on-7 tournaments.
Recruiting: Penn State commits make big moves in updated On300 rankings
Now, with all four sites updated heading into preseason, which starts nationally in just a few weeks, Penn State’s committed players have made some big moves.
Overall, 15 of the 22 committed players have improved to some degree. A few of them are just marginal increases, but others have made massive strides. TE Luke Reynolds, OL Cooper Cousins, QB Ethan Grunkemeyer, DE Mylachi Williams, Saf. Dejuan Lane and OL Garrett Sexton were among the players who made sizable jumps.
Reynold was the only player among the Top 300 who climbed over 100 spots, while Grunkemeyer, Williams, and Sexton all improved at least 80 spots or more. Further down, you’ll also notice that future Penn State OL Eagan Boyer and WR Peter Gonzalez also made big moves. Boyer climbed 127 spots and is now inside the Top 500. Gonzalez climbed 155 spots to No. 894.
