It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with Football Scoop’s compilation of the highest-paid offensive coordinators. Penn State first-year play caller Andy Kotelnicki is set to make $1.6 million in 2024. It puts him fourth on the list nationally. He is behind only Utah’s Andy Ludwig, who is making $1.85 million this season, Clemson’s Garrett Riley ($1.75 million), and Ole Miss’ Charlie Weiss Jr. ($1.65 million). Kotelnicki joins the Lions after powering high-profile offenses at Buffalo and Kansas, among other stops.

“I think the biggest thing that you guys have heard me talk about in the past is being the head coach of the offense, or the head coach of the defense, or special teams, or by position, and I think he’s done a really good job of that and taking a ton of time of explaining the why, which in 2024 I think is really important,” Franklin said earlier this spring. “I think student athletes and young people will do the same things that we did in the 90s, in the 80s. [But], they just wonder why. And I think Andy’s doing a really good job of explaining the why, and teaching football, and really getting everybody pulling the rope in the same direction and excited about what we’re going to be able to accomplish on offense this year.” So it’s it’s been good so far, and I know the staff’s enjoying it as well.”

According to Football Scoop, a total of 20 offensive coordinators will make at least $1 million this fall.

“This weekend visit to Penn State was big. Opened up my eyes a lot! I took this visit because Coach (James) Franklin and Coach J wanted me to come up because they know that I’m a huge priority to them and feel like I could come in and be a huge asset to the team!”
