Where does Penn State rank in the updated Associated Press Poll for Week 10?
Penn State moved up one spot in the updated Associated Press Poll for Week 10, climbing to No. 9 following the win over Indiana. Following its first loss of the season against Ohio State, the Nittany Lions were expected to blow out the Hoosiers. However, the game went down to the wire after quarterback Drew Allar threw his first career interception late in the game to give Indiana an opportunity for a game-tying field goal.
Fortunately for Penn State fans, the sophomore didn’t let his first major mistake rattle him, as he found wide receiver KeAndre Lambert-Smith for a 57-yard touchdown with under two minutes remaining. That comeback, combined with Oklahoma’s loss on the road to Kansas, is what propelled the Nittany Lions up a spot. Each of the other eight teams ahead of them either won or had a bye week.
The Big Ten remains at just three schools within the Top 25, as Michigan and Ohio State both held firm at second and third, respectively. Rutgers is the only other Big Ten team receiving votes with two.
It was a tough week for the Pac-12 and the ACC, as Utah, Oregon State and North Carolina all dropped in the poll this week.
On the West Coast, the Utes were beaten up by Oregon, 35-6, while Oregon State dropped a close one to Arizona, 27-24. In the ACC, the Tar Heels allowed Georgia Tech to score three times in the fourth quarter to squeeze out a 46-42 win in ACC play.
