Where does Penn State rank in the updated Coaches Poll for Week 9?

Penn State came into Saturday’s game at Ohio State hoping to upset the Buckeyes for the first time since 2016. However, the end result was a similar one for Nittany Lion fans, as James Franklin’s team dropped its seventh straight game against Ohio State, losing 20-12.
That loss dropped Penn State to No. 10 in the Coaches Poll for Week 9 of the college football season. The Nittany Lions have games against Indiana, Maryland, Michigan, Rutgers and Michigan State still on the schedule.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Ohio State and Michigan remain among the nation’s best, with the Wolverines ranked No. 2 and the Buckeyes at No. 3. Michigan rolled over in-state rival Michigan State, 49-0.
The conference had four teams ranked in the Coaches Poll coming into this weekend’s games, as Iowa sat at No. 23 in the Coaches Poll. However, just like the last time they were ranked – the weekend they played Penn State – the Hawkeyes ended up being one-and-done, losing to Minnesota 12-10.
Nationally, Oklahoma, Texas, Alabama and Oregon all got wins on Saturday. Oklahoma played a closer than expected game against UCF, but ultimately won 31-29. The big upset was Virginia, who’s now 2-5 on the season, defeating North Carolina, 31-27. The Tar Heels came into the game ranked No. 10 nationally but have now dropped down to No. 17.
