Penn State continues to roll on the recruiting trail following Saturday night’s White Out win over Iowa, as the Nittany Lions picked up their third consecutive 2025 commitment in as many days.

It all started back on Sunday when James Franklin and his staff added four-star linebacker DJ McClary (No. 109 nationally) from Jersey City, N.J. That was followed on Monday by Aliquippa, Pa., running back and three-star prospect Tiqwai Hayes. He’s ranked No. 349 in the Industry Ranking.

Now, the Nittany Lions have added another four-star from Western Pennsylvania in North Catholic’s Brady O’Hara, giving Penn State five total commitments in the class, as four-star running back Kiandrea Barker (No. 252) from Texas and safety Omari Gaines (No. 427) from New Jersey have been committed for a few months.

O’Hara, who’s ranked No. 305 nationally, give the Nittany Lions three four-star commitments in the class. Although they still sit at No. 7 overall nationally, their overall score improved from a 90.255 to 90.473.

Understanding On3’s Team Rankings

For those unfamiliar with On3’s Team Rankings, there are two major differences compared to other sites that you need to know.

1) We use the Industry Rankings, which uses all four major recruiting sites – On3, 247, Rivals and ESPN – to find a commutative score. It’s not based on just On3’s rankings.

2) On3’s Team Recruiting Rankings solve the problem of varying class sizes during the recruiting cycle by totaling the highest-rated commitments for each team based on a rolling average of current total commitments among Power 5 schools. Currently, that average total is just two players.

So, if you’re wondering why Penn State may be lower at On3 when compared to 247 and Rivals at times, it’s because we’re aiming to project where the Nittany Lions will truly finish come National Signing Day.

Around the Big Ten

With Michigan holding just two commitments currently and Ohio State earning just one, Penn State is the second-ranked team in the Big Ten, behind only Oregon, who’s set to join the conference officially next year. The Ducks also hold four commitments with an overall score of 93.403. Three of their four commitments rank among the Top 100 nationally.

Nebraska is the only other Big Ten program that has reached three commitments or more in the class. The Cornhuskers are ranked No. 14 with a grade of 85.340.

Overall, Alabama and Georgia hold the top-ranked classes currently with six and seven commitments, respectively. Behind Oregon, you’ll find LSU, Oklahoma and Notre Dame in that order before Penn State in seventh. SMU, Miami and UCF round out the Top 10.
