Where does Penn State rank in the final College Football Playoff Poll?
Penn State will play in a New Year’s Six Bowl for the second consecutive year, with the Nittany Lions headed to Atlanta to take on Ole Miss in the Peach Bowl.
Head coach James Franklin and his team will head into the game ranked No. 10 in the final College Football Playoff Poll, with the Rebels just behind them at No. 11. Penn State’s 10th-place ranking is the same spot they ranked coming into the weekend. Both the AP Poll and the Coaches Poll also have the Lions at No. 10 nationally.
The biggest news of the day centered around this year’s playoff teams, specifically the committee’s decision to leave out an undefeated ACC champion in Florida State for an Alabama team that lost earlier in the year to Texas but was also able to defeat Georgia, who was previously No. 1, Saturday in the SEC Championship.
As for the Big Ten, Michigan is now the No. 1 ranked team in the country following its win over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship. Ohio State dropped one spot to No. 7 in the poll and is now set to face Missouri in the Cotton Bowl. Iowa is also firmly among the Top 25 at No. 17 nationally. The Hawkeyes represent Penn State’s best win of the season.

But now Franklin and his staff will have an opportunity to get a second marquee win when the face Lane Kiffin and Ole Miss. Just like the Lions, the Rebels finished the 2023 season with a 10-2 record, losing on the road to Alabama (24-10) and Georgia (52-17).
