Where does Penn State rank in the 2025 Team Recruiting Rankings following QB Bekkem Krtiza's commitment?
Penn State picked up its sixth commitment in the Class of 2025 Tuesday, adding Colorado native and three-star quarterback Bekkem Kritza. Listed at 6-foot-5, 185 pounds, Kritza surprised many with the timing of his decision, as Nittany Lion head coach James Franklin announced just Sunday that he’ll be searching for a new offensive coordinator.
However, Kritza made it clear that this decision was all about Penn State and his relationship with the entire staff.
“When I commit to a school, I’m committing to the school and to the head coach,” Kritza said in an interview with BWI’s Sean Fitz this week. “I’m not really committing to a quarterbacks coach or an [offensive coordinator].”
Kritza is ranked No. 459 nationally in the On3 Industry Rankings. With a grade of 87.67, he’s the 33rd-ranked quarterback currently and No. 1 overall in Colorado.
Following his decision, the Nittany Lions’ 2025 class ranks No. 11 nationally in On3’s Team Recruiting Rankings. The class has an average grade of 90.768, which has Penn State ranked fourth overall in the Big Ten. Currently, the Lions hold more commitments than any other school in the Big Ten.
Understanding On3’s Team Rankings
For those unfamiliar with On3’s Team Rankings, there are two major differences compared to other sites that you need to know.
1) We use the Industry Rankings, which uses all four major recruiting sites – On3, 247, Rivals and ESPN – to find a commutative score. It’s not based on just On3’s rankings.
2) On3’s Team Recruiting Rankings solve the problem of varying class sizes during the recruiting cycle by totaling the highest-rated commitments for each team based on a rolling average of current total commitments among Power 5 schools. Currently, that average total is just two players.

So, if you’re wondering why Penn State may be lower at On3 when compared to 247 and Rivals at different times, it’s because we’re aiming to project where the Nittany Lions will truly finish on National Signing Day.

Around the Big Ten
The Class of 2025 is beginning to pick up momentum in the Big Ten. At the end of September, Ohio State had just one commitment in its class from quarterback Tavien St. Clair. Now, its total is up to four with the additions of two four-star prospects, cornerback Blake Woodby and wide receiver Jayvon Boggs, as well as three-star linebacker Eli Lee in the month of October. The Buckeyes rank fifth overall nationally now with an overall grade of 92.477.
However, Ohio State isn’t the top-ranked class in the conference, as Oregon – who’s currently recruiting players to join the conference next season – sits at No. 3 overall nationally with four commitments themselves. With three of their four commitments ranking among the Top 100 nationally, the Ducks hold a cumulative grade of 93.49.

Michigan also picked up a major commitment earlier today, adding four-star quarterback Carter Smith to its class. Ranked No. 223 nationally in On3’s Industry Rankings, Smith is the second-ranked player in Michigan’s class. The Wolverines have three commitments total, all of whom hold four-star ratings. They rank No. 10 nationally, just above Penn State at No. 11.
Elsewhere in the Big Ten, Wisconsin and Nebraska hold three commitments each. The Badgers are ranked No. 16 nationally, with Nebraska just behind them at No. 17. Purdue also holds three commitments and ranks No. 22.
