There are just three weeks remaining in the college football season, and just like the weeks before, Week 11 featured no shortage of drama. With both Miami and Georgia losing, it opened the door for Penn State to once again move up in the poll, and that’s exactly what happened, as the Nittany Lions climbed to No. 4.

Of course, Penn State also looked good Saturday night, dominating Washington on both sides of the ball. Not only did quarterback Drew Allar and the offense score touchdowns on four consecutive drives to open the game, but the defense didn’t allow a drive of more than 50 yards until late in the third quarter. Add in nine tackles for loss and five sacks and the Huskies had no chance at upsetting Penn State in its annual White Out game.

“We found a way to win the game, but also thought we got better. I thought that was important last week,” said head coach James Franklin on Monday.

The Big Ten currently projects to get three additional teams into the playoffs, as both Oregon and Ohio State are ranked No. 1 and No. 2, respectively. Indiana also remains in a strong position, climbing to No. 5 in the poll. The Hoosiers defeated Michigan this past weekend to remain undefeated on the season, setting up a massive road trip to Columbus on Nov. 23. However, even if the Hoosiers aren’t able to beat the Buckeyes, a solid performance could still be enough for them to make the playoff.

With the final playoff poll not being released until after conference championship games on Dec. 8, there’s still plenty of time for things to change, but as of now, the Nittany Lions would host Ole Miss in the first round of the playoffs. The Rebels climbed to No. 11 in the poll after beating Georgia last weekend. That would also be a rematch from last year’s loss in the Peach Bowl, although it should be noted that Penn State was missing a handful of key contributors in that game.

The other first-round matchups, as of now, would be 12th-seed Boise State at fifth-seed Ohio State, ninth-seed Notre Dame at eighth-seed Tennessee and 10th-seed Alabama at seventh-seed Indiana. Oregon, Texas, BYU and Miami are currently projected to be the No. 1 through No. 4 seeds, in that order.
