Penn State remains at No. 4 in the Associated Press Poll with just one week remaining in the regular season. The Nittany Lions found themselves in a tight game Saturday at Minnesota, trailing until late in the third quarter. But after taking the lead, Penn State never looked back, forcing a fumble on their next drive that allowed them to take a four-point lead.

After allowing the Gophers to score a field goal of their own with 5:48 left to play in the game, quarterback Drew Allar helped lead a 12-play, 72-yard drive that featured three separate fourth down conversions. That included one of the gutsier calls during James Franklin’s tenure, as Penn State faked a punt on their own 34-yard line that swung both the field position and the momentum.

“I just felt like we needed to try to end the game on our terms with the ball in our hand,” Franklin said when asked why he went for three times on fourth down to finish out the game.

Report Card: Grading the Lions’ 26-25 victory at Minnesota

Nationally, there was no shortage of significant losses Saturday, with three previously ranked Top 10 teams – Indiana, Alabama and Ole Miss – all losing on the road. The Hoosiers were held to just 81 yards of offense after opening the game with a 70-yard drive for a touchdown. Alabama and Ole Miss were both crushed by turnovers, as Jaxson Dart threw back-to-back interceptions on the final two drives and Jalen Milroe threw three interceptions on Alabama’s final five drives.
