Where does Penn State rank in the Week 15 Associated Press Poll?
Penn State improved to No. 3 in the Associated Press Poll with the regular season now complete. The Nittany Lions also benefitted from Ohio State once again losing to rival Michigan, opening the door for PSU to play in the Big Ten Championship next weekend. They’ll face No. 1 Oregon, who finished the season 12-0.
“We’re fighting to keep this family together as long as we possibly can,” Franklin said when asked about Ohio State’s loss and how that may have impacted that game against Maryland. “Wins do that, statistics do that, all those things matter. We were going to play four quarters and fight to the end and do everything we had to put ourselves in the best position to continue the season as long as possible and be seeded as high as possible.”

Now, James Franklin and his team have the opportunity to not only get a first-round bye in the College Football Playoff but also guarantee that they play in the Rose Bowl to open up the playoffs on Jan. 1. A loss wouldn’t be the end of the world either, as Penn State would get the opportunity to host a playoff game on the weekend of Dec. 20-21.
The Big Ten is in a strong position to get four teams into the playoffs, as Ohio State and Indiana are both expected to make it. Texas, Georgia and Tennessee all seem like safe bets in the SEC, but that still leaves five spots that’ll likely be determined during conference championship games next week. The ACC will come down to Clemson or SMU, while Iowa State and Arizona State will face each other in the Big 12 Championship to earn a spot in the playoff.
