Where does Penn State rank in the Week 5 Associated Press Poll?

Penn State will head into its biggest game of the season so far among the nation’s Top 10 programs, as the Nittany Lions came in at No. 9 nationally in the updated Associated Press Poll.
Yesterday’s win over Kent State was expected to be a blowout and it proved to be just that, with Penn State outgaining the Golden Flashes by 651 yards (718 to 67). According to ESPN Stats & Information, it was the highest differential in the last decade.
Now, with the non-conference portion of the schedule behind them, James Franklin and his team have the opportunity to get their first Top 25 win of the season when Illinois comes to Beaver Stadium on Saturday. The Fighting Illini, who are now ranked No. 19 in the AP Poll, already have wins over Kansas and Nebraska. Both of those schools were ranked at the time of the game.
Ohio State remains the top-ranked team in the conference at No. XX nationally following a 49-14 win over Marshall on Saturday. Oregon, who had a bye week, ranks just above Penn State at No. 8 overall, while Michigan moved up to No. 12 following its win over USC. The Trojans dropped just two spots following the loss to No. 13.
