Where does Penn State rank in updated AP and Coaches Polls?
Penn State head coach James Franklin and his team will learn its bowl destination in just a few hours, but ahead of the announcement of this year’s New Year’s Six Bowls and the final College Football Playoff Poll, both the Coaches Poll and Associated Press Poll were released Sunday morning.
Just like last week, the Nittany Lions held firm at No. 10 in both polls. Michigan is now the No. 1 team in the country following last night’s 26-0 win over Iowa in the Big Ten Championship game. Ohio State dropped one spot in both polls to No. 7 nationally, while the Hawkeyes are ranked 17th in the Coaches Poll and 20th in the Associated Press Poll.
As for where Penn State is projected to play its bowl game, the Peach Bowl remains the most popular pick. BWI’s Greg Pickel assembled 11 national experts and their updated bowl projections Sunday morning. Out of those 11, six have the Nittany Lions headed to Atlanta. However, their opponent remains a guess, with Georgia, Ole Miss, Missouri and Liberty all mentioned.
