Penn State remains at No. 6 nationally in the latest Associated Press Poll following Saturday’s 41-13 win over Northwestern. The Nittany Lions are undefeated, 5-0, headed into their bye week the first weekend of October. They’ll face UMass at home in two weeks for homecoming before traveling to Columbus to face Ohio State later this month.

Penn State’s matchup with the Buckeyes will be the first of three major games within the Big Ten East Division that’ll likely determine the winner of the conference, as Ohio State held firm at No. 4 overall following its bye week. Michigan remains at No. 2 in the AP Top 25 following its dominant win over Nebraska yesterday, 45-7. Penn State will host Michigan Nov. 11 before the Buckeyes and Wolverines square off at the end of the season.

Currently, those are the only three Big Ten teams ranked in the poll, but Maryland, who improved to 5-0 Saturday with a win over Indiana, is close to cracking the Top 25, receiving 81 votes, the most of any school not currently ranked. The Terps travel to Columbus this upcoming weekend to take on Ohio State.

Among the Top 10, there were no changes within the top seven schools. Oregon moved up one spot to No. 8 overall, with USC dropping down a spot following its win over Colorado.

Utah and LSU were the two schools who dropped significantly this week, as the Utes moved down eight spots to No. 18 overall following its 21-7 loss to Oregon State on Friday night. LSU went back and forth with Ole Miss in 55-49 loss that saw both teams combine for more than 1,300 yards of offense. The Rebels moved up four spots to No. 16 following the win over Brian Kelly’s Tigers.
