Penn State passed its first road test of the 2023 season Saturday, defeating Illinois 30-13 in Champaign. Manny Diaz’s defense forced five turnovers, including four interceptions, while Drew Allar and the offense again reached 30 points.

But with every game in the Top 10 this week having a point spread of two touchdowns or more, the results pretty much went as expected. Because of that, you’ll find only two notable changes in the top half of the poll, as Tennessee dropped 11 spots following its loss to Florida, while Alabama dropped two spots to No. 12 overall following a 17-3 win over USF. The top eight spots in the poll all remained the same, keeping Penn State No. 7 overall.

In the Big Ten, both Michigan and Ohio State remain in the top four nationally, but Penn State does have a chance to get its first ranked win of the season this upcoming weekend as No. 22 Iowa will come to Beaver Stadium Saturday night. The Hawkeyes led only 14-10 at halftime Saturday against Western Michigan but were able to score 27 points in the second half to pull away, 41-10.
