Penn State will head into its bye week ranked No. 6 overall in the Coaches Poll following Week 5 of the college football season. The Nittany Lions moved up one spot from No. 7 following its 41-13 win over Northwestern.

With each team ahead of them all winning on Saturday, plus Ohio State and Florida State both having bye weeks, you won’t find much change among the top 10 as we head into October. Texas and Florida state swapped spots at No. 4 and No. 5, while the Nittany Lions jumped USC, who now ranks No. 7.

In the Big Ten, both the Wolverines and Buckeyes remain in the top three. Michigan dominated Nebraska on the road, scoring 45 unanswereed points before allowing a kick return touchdown late in the fourth quarter against the Cornhuskers.

Utah came into the week ranked at No. 10 overall, but with quarterback Cam Rising still injured following last year’s Rose Bowl, the Utes suffered their first loss of the season on the road at Oregon State, dropping them to No. 19 in the Coaches Poll. The Beavers climbed to No. 16.

LSU, who came into the weekend ranked No. 12 overall, also dropped quite a bit following its second loss of the season on the road at Ole Miss. The Tigers allowed the Rebels to rack up an eye-catching 706 yards in a 55-49 shootout down in Oxford. The two teams combined for 1,343 yards, with Ole Miss totaling more than 300 yards both on the ground and via the passing game. The Tigers now find themselves ranked No. 23 overall, while Ole Miss moved up from No. 20 to No. 15.
