Penn State tweets of the day
On3 national college football writers Andy Staples and Ari Wasserman released their first look at how next season’s top 25 could look while the 2024 season wraps up. Penn State, which is now just days away from meeting Notre Dame in a College Football Playoff semifinal at the Orange Bowl, checks in at No. 4. Texas, Oregon, and Ohio State are all in front of the Nittany Lions in that order. The Fighting Irish round out the top five. Georgia, South Carolina, Clemson, Florida, and Auburn check in at Nos. 6-10.
“You could make the strong case that quarterback Drew Allar should hit the NFL Draft this year while the quarterback position isn’t that deep, but he has already decided to return to State College for another year,” Wasserman writes. “Expecting a big jump from Penn State’s first legit pro quarterback prospect in years, the Nittany Lions should be a deep and veteran team ready to build off of this year’s impressive run to the College Football Playoff semifinals.”
The Orange Bowl starts at 7:30 p.m. ET on Thur., Jan. 9. ESPN will televise the contest.

Quote of the day
“He is playing his tail off right now. You guys recognize that. I think everybody recognizes it. I know there was a ton of conversations about Mr. Jeanty, and deservedly so from Boise. He earned that type of conversation. But I’d make the argument we got the best duo in all of college football [with Allen and Nick Singleton].
“I think obviously we’re about to play a team that’s got some good backs, too. But again, we’re a part of that conversation. Kaytron is just so physical. He’s just so physical. He wears people down. He’s able to run you over, keep his feet, extend runs.”
