Penn State news, notes, and updates for Jan. 19 include the latest wrestling rankings, a preview of the weekend ahead, and more.

It’s time to dive into Friday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with wrestling. Head coach Cael Sanderson’s No. 1 Nittany Lions are set for their first and only double dual meet weekend of the season. They take on Michigan at 6 p.m. ET tonight on Big Ten Network. Then, on Sunday, they travel to East Lansing for a 1 p.m. ET match with Michigan State. B1G+ will stream it for subscribers.

” I kind of just think when we get to the Big Ten, it’s always Friday, Sunday, Friday, Sunday, like multiple weekends in a row,” Sanderson said this week. “We we’re just talking about that the other day, actually. I mean, we do have a Friday, I think we’re at Iowa, and then we’re back here on Monday with Rutgers. So you know, that’s a trip to the Midwest and back. So that’ll be similar. But yeah, I think the two matches in a row is good for us because it gets you guys ready to make weight multiple days in a row.

“So wherever you’re at, we just got to find the positive in the opportunity or challenge however you look at it. But yeah, we don’t have a lot of these opportunities to wrestle back-to-back. So, I think it would be good preparation for us and our weight management.”
