Former Penn State quarterback Beau Pribula will visit a handful of schools, including one new potential suitor, as he continues to look for his next college home. According to On3 transfer portal reporter Pete Nakos, Iowa, UCF, and Indiana will all host the Pa., native and third-year passer. He is coming off a trip to Missouri. The Hoosiers, who he is in line to see this weekend, are new to the mix. Nakos previously listed the Hawkeyes, Tigers, and Knights as teams to watch.

“UCF, Iowa, and Missouri could now all use quarterbacks to transfer in,” On3’s Sam Gillenwater writes. “The Knights are likely looking at competitions based on how the position went last year for UCF and could go now with their new, returning head coach in Scott Frost. The Hawkeyes are in a similar spot despite already adding Hank Brown (Auburn) last week. The Tigers are then still looking for their replacement for Brady Cook after being involved with several quarterbacks so far.”

Indiana is looking for a replacement for current starter Kurtis Rourke. He is having a strong season in Bloomington. But, he graduates whenever the Hoosiers’ College Football Playoff run ends. The Big Ten team will thus go into the spring of 2025 with a quarterback battle on its hands. Whether or not it will involve Pribula remains to be seen, of course.

For whatever it’s worth, Iowa and Indiana are both on the 2025 Penn State schedule. So, depending on what Pribula decides and how he performs during a quarterback competition at his new school, the Lions could ultimately face their former backup next season.

Pribula and Penn State thought moving on now was best

Back on Monday, Lions coach James Franklin detailed the tough decision both sides made that led to Pribula moving on before the start of the College Football Playoff.

“We talked through a ton of different scenarios. And, I think the more we talked about it and the more we went through it, a couple of things [emerged],” Franklin said. “I think, number one, Beau felt like he was going to have a hard time finishing school, finding a place that he wanted to go to, and still preparing like the starter like he’d been doing all year long. And then, the other thing was, he was getting pressure to go on visits and go see these places.

“Like a lot of things, in theory, that sounds good. But when you actually talk through how it’s actually going to work, it’s hard to do that. It’s hard to say you’re preparing to be the starter, and when I say the starter, you guys understand our approach at every position; starters and backups approach it that way. At the end of the day, I don’t feel like Beau felt like he could do those things to the level he needed to. He was out at practice yesterday and I can tell he was distracted by all of this.”
