Penn State news, notes, and updates for April 30 include a look ahead to the 2025 NFL Draft, headlines of the day, and more.

It’s time to dive into Tuesday’s top tweets and headlines about the Nittany Lions and college athletics.

Penn State tweets of the day

We start with a look at the 2025 NFL Draft. Numerous media mock drafts suggest Penn State will continue its streak of putting players in the first round during the James Franklin era. Will quarterback Drew Allar be one of them? The 33rd Team thinks so. It sent him to the Pittsburgh Steelers in its way-too-early 2025 mock. But, no one else did. There’s a reason for that: Many, including Cameron Salero of CBS Sports, think the Ohio native needs to be better in 2024 to make that a possibility. The good news for the passer and Nittany Lions fans, however, is that Salero calls Allar one of eight quarterbacks who will rise to the occasion this fall and put themselves into the first round of next year’s pro selection process.

“Keep your stock (or buy more) in Allar,” Salero writes. “After McCarthy became a top-10 pick this week, the blueprint is there for Allar to do the same in 2025. He was the top-ranked quarterback prospect from the 2022 recruiting cycle according to 247Sports and spent a year learning behind Sean Clifford before taking over the starting job last year. You can’t teach size, and Allar’s 6-foot-5 frame should intrigue NFL decision-makers. He’ll have an opportunity to learn under former Kansas offensive coordinator Andy Kotelnicki in 2024. Kotelnicki helped Jalon Daniels make a massive development upon his arrival to the Jayhawks staff in 2022.”

Quote of the day

“For me, I just want to win a Super Bowl (smile). I feel like for how much work you have to put in as a football player to finally reach the pinnacle and be named a Super Bowl champion, I mean it must be the best feeling in the world, so if I can help this team do that, that’ll definitely be a successful career for me.”
