The Penn State football program will hold its annual Pro Day event on Friday inside of Holuba Hall. Projected first-round NFL Draft picks Abdul Carter and Tyler Warren headline the Lions draft class that should bring representatives from all 32 pro teams to State College. But, the former will not do any on-field work. ESPN reported Thursday that the defender is still recovering from an injury suffered during the Lions’ College Football Playoff run.

“He is still finishing up rehab on the shoulder injury he had from the Boise State game,” Carter’s agent, Drew Rosenhaus, told ESPN’s Adam Schefter. “He may still do a workout for teams sometime in mid April.”

Still, some of the notable names on hand could likely be head coaches and general managers of teams looking to draft either one of those two and/or gather more information on other draft-eligible former Nittany Lions. Carter is surely still going to meet with pro personnel on hand. He just won’t work out, which surely disappooints Lions head strength coach Chuck Losey, who predicted big things for Warren and Carter on Friday back in February.

“They’re going to, I’m not going to throw out times or measurables or anything like that, but you guys know the two type of two people they are, the type of performers they are, that they’ll put on great showing,” Losey said. “It’ll be great representation of who they are and what they can do. I have no doubt about that.”

The rest of the participant list for Penn State Pro Day includes safeties KJ Winston and Jaylen Reed, linebacker Kobe King, offensive lineman Sal Wormley, cornerback Jalen Kimber, defensive linemen Coziah Izzard, Dvon J-Thomas, and Amin Vanover, receiver Julian Fleming, and kicker Alex Felkins, who started for the Lions in 2023.

What are the top Penn State storylines to watch at Pro Day?

Let’s start with the obvious: The Nittany Lions had a very quiet NFL Combine. Warren elected not to work out. Carter did not do any on-field work due to recovering from an injury. Winston fell into the same boat. Reed is the only Penn State alum who did test in Indianapolis. Aside from seeing what the first Warren and Winston do, it will be equally as interesting to see what Reed does again versus what he elects not to do in favor of letting his Combine number stand.

Wormley and Kimber are the two Nittany Lions who likely thought they should have been one of the 300-plus players at the Combine who were not. Each will get a big chance to impress NFL scouts on Friday. We’re also curious who will throw to Fleming and Warren. Will it be Penn State senior quarterback Drew Allar or someone else?
