Penn State tweets of the day
Penn State hockey is headed back to Allentown. The Nittany Lions are the host team at the PPL Center for this weekend’s NCAA Tournament region there. Head coach Guy Gadowsky’s team is the 4-seed in the region and will face the three seed overall and the top regional seed, Maine, on March 28 at 8:30 in the first round. The winner of that game takes on the winner of Quinnipiac and UCONN in the regional final on March 30. This year’s semifinals are set for April 10, and the final is April 12.
Gadowsky’s side started slow in 2024 but went on a torrid run to put itself in the postseason. The team was 10-2-3 over its final 15 games and earned 28-of-39 available points to climb the standings and make the Big Ten tournament. It took out Michigan with a two-game sweep in the quarterfinals but fell to Ohio State in the conference semifinals. That put it in a position of having to wait and see if it would make the national tournament. It did not have to wait until selection Sunday, though, as its spot was locked in over the weekend back on Friday.

Quote of the day
“Obviously as a competitor, when you toe the line, I believe I’m the baddest dude out there. But in real terms, just Coach Cael Sanderson, I think it’s one thing to go out there and do it. But, I think it takes a whole other level of understanding and knowledge and things like that to get other people to do what you know how to do.
“And he coached four-time men’s state champ, an Olympic champ. He’s coached everything that he’s done. When you are to replicate that that’s something that’s going to live on forever, where something that, five national titles, I feel something like that, it comes and goes. But he really marked this thing. I think he’s the greatest of all time.”
