Zach Hicks, Temple transfer forward, makes the call for Penn State
Penn State basketball has added another portal commitment this offseason. Zach Hicks has landed with the Nittany Lions, according to multiple BWI sources.
Hicks is a 6-foot-8, 195-pound wing coming from Temple. He played two seasons with the Owls before entering the transfer portal this offseason. And, he chose to play for Mike Rhoades and Penn State over the option to return to Temple, or play for either UTEP or Georgetown.
The addition to the roster continues the team-building process in the first weeks of Rhoades’ tenure at Penn State. Welcoming the returns of Kanye Clary, Demetrius Lilley, and Jameel Brown the past seven days, the Nittany Lions have also added former VCU players Ace Baldwin and Nick Kern to the roster through the transfer portal. With Hicks now aboard, that puts Penn State at six filled scholarships ahead of the 2023-24 season with another seven outstanding.
Penn State is continuing to focus its efforts on retaining its two other players exploring the transfer portal, as well as high school seniors and other portal prospects. Both Kebba Njie and Evan Mahaffey entered the portal following the Nittany Lions’ 2022-23 season and have yet to make announcements regarding their futures.
What Zach Hicks does
Zach Hicks shoots, and makes, many 3-point shots. He notched a career-high 35 points as a freshman at Temple in a win over Delaware State, and did so by hitting 10-of-16 shots from beyond the arc.
