2026 Illinois QB Owen Lansu on Purdue radar

Purdue is keeping a close eye on many Class of 2026 quarterbacks. And one that staffers are watching is Owen Lansu. The Class 7A Downer’s Grove (Ill.) North product was on campus recently for a camp.
Lansu caught the eye of Purdue defensive coordinator Kevin Kane this spring when Kane was at Downer’s Grove North to watch linebacker Cael Brezina, who has since committed to Iowa State.
“He said some positive stuff about me and told me to come to Purdue for a camp,” said Lansu.
Lansu is set to start on the varsity in 2023. As a freshman in 2022, he split time between the JV and varsity, as Downer’s Grove North started a senior.
The 6-1, 160-pound Lansu describes himself as a “pocket passer.”
“Pretty big arm, so I can stretch the field,” he said. “And I’m also very good mentally. I can go through reads and know when to check down and am efficient. I guess I fit the Purdue mold of a quarterback, actually.”

Lansu is acquainted with former Purdue signal-caller Aidan O’Connell, who also is a suburban Chicago product. They both used to work with the same quarterback coach at Throw It Deep. Lansu now trains with Next Level Athletics
Lansu has been to Minnesota, Rutgers and Iowa State, in addition to Purdue. And he plans to check out Michigan, Notre Dame and Vanderbilt. He is still looking for his first offer.
