Acrepro.com presents: GoldandBlack.com Wednesday Purdue football chat
GoldandBlack.com’s Tom Dienhart and Alan Karpick take your questions on Purdue football and much more.
Oregon-Purdue from the Ducks’ perspective
Jerry Allen, the voice of Oregon football, breaks down what Purdue–losers of five in a row–can expect from the Ducks.
GoldandBlack.com: What should Purdue expect from the Oregon offense?
Allen: You’re going to get a Dan Lanning team that plays with his personality. They have found a way to play physical football at the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball. That’s what he likes. That’s his style.
They’ve got some great skill at wide receivers–three guys on the outside–best tight end group that we’ve had in quite a while. And, of course, Dillon Gabriel, the transfer quarterback who has just been managing this team with calmness and with confidence.
The offense also has a running back in Jordan James that suddenly has discovered that he likes to run hard and pick up his feet, and he’s becoming a much better back than he was in the first couple of ball games. The offensive line is on the same page. First couple of games of the season, they weren’t opening holes. They weren’t protecting the quarterback. It didn’t look like Oregon’s offense was coming together. But by Game Three, something started to happen. And then in Game Four, it happened at UCLA. They definitely had it together. And, certainly, against Ohio State, they found a rhythm.
